Driver Awareness Workshop

Overview

Murcotts’ Driver Awareness Workshops strengthen organisational driver safety culture and complement practical programs such as Defensive Driving Level 1 and Level 2. Delivered over a half day (3–4 hours), the workshop blends presentations, discussions, group activities and real‑world scenarios to help participants understand the behavioural factors that influence driving risk.

Workshops can be delivered onsite or at Murcotts facilities and can be customised to organisational needs.

What You’ll Learn

Participants explore the key behavioural, environmental and operational factors that shape safe driving, including:

·       BAAMS® behavioural elements and crash causation

·       The driver’s role in preventing incidents

·       Defensive and protective driving systems

·       Fleet safety, policy and WHS obligations

·       EcoDriving and environmental considerations

·       Road law awareness

·       Reversing and slow‑speed manoeuvring

·       Risk factors such as speed, fatigue, aggression and alcohol

·       Speed, stopping distances and reaction time

·       Hazard perception and situational awareness

·       Ergonomics and correct driving posture

·       Vehicle technology and safety systems

Where space allows, practical demonstrations of reversing, manoeuvring and braking can be included. Optional pre‑ and post‑session activities, such as peer driving assessments, are also available.

The 3–4 hour workshop includes:

·       Small‑group exercises

·       Questionnaires and self‑assessment tools

·       Real‑world scenario analysis

This structure builds both knowledge and behavioural insight, helping participants make safer decisions on the road.
