Overview
Driving a commuter bus carries significant responsibility. This three‑hour program equips occasional and part‑time drivers with the knowledge, awareness and practical skills needed to operate a bus safely and confidently in real‑world conditions. It’s ideal for school, community and organisational drivers.
What You’ll Learn
Participants develop key safety and operational skills, including:
· Reversing and low‑speed manoeuvring
· Sight‑line awareness and blind‑spot management
· Planning ahead in traffic and anticipating hazards
· Judging distances and managing vehicle size
· Passenger safety obligations
· Workplace Health & Safety requirements
· Seat belt and vehicle certification laws
How It Works
The program combines:
· 1 hour of theory — bus characteristics, legal responsibilities, hazard awareness and best‑practice techniques
· 2 hours of practical on‑road coaching — manoeuvring, positioning, traffic management, smooth driving and safe pick‑up/drop‑off procedures
This structure ensures drivers gain both the knowledge and hands‑on experience required for safe passenger transport.
