Overview
This introductory 4WD program builds the skills and awareness needed to operate off‑road vehicles safely across a range of conditions. Ideal for anyone who owns or drives a 4WD or SUV — even if most driving is on sealed roads — the course provides a clear, practical understanding of how 4WD and AWD systems work and how to use them effectively.
Available for corporate clients, private groups of six and individual bookings.
What You’ll Learn
Participants develop essential off‑road skills, including:
· Negotiating steep slopes and rugged terrain
· Emergency stall/stop and restart procedures
· Introduction to recovery equipment (demonstration only)
· Correct use of 4WD transmissions
· Understanding 4WD/AWD limitations and risks
· Terrain analysis and hazard identification
· Environmental awareness and vehicle sympathy
This training builds confidence, improves decision‑making and reduces off‑road risk.
How It Works
This full‑day program blends targeted theory with practical 4WD exercises.
· Theory: 4WD/AWD systems, risk management, environmental considerations, pre‑trip preparation
· Practical: ascents and descents, low‑ and high‑range transmission use, emergency procedures, terrain assessment and safe navigation of uneven surfaces
The structure ensures drivers gain both the knowledge and hands‑on capability to operate a 4WD safely and responsibly.
